Bone Tactical

Bone Tactical, LLC is a Florida-based company that designs, manufactures, and distributes specialized tools and equipment. Gregory Isaac Tambone is the sole owner, founder, and operator of the enterprise. The company’s core product portfolio includes edged tools, Everyday Carry (EDC) equipment, Non-Permissive Environment (NPE) gear, apparel, survival equipment, and specialty products. Operating on a small-batch manufacturing model, Bone Tactical emphasizes iterative design and a function-first philosophy driven by real-world application rather than mass-market trends.

Origins and Early Development

The origins of Bone Tactical date to circa 2013, born out of necessity when Gregory Isaac Tambone realized mass-produced tactical tools were failing in high-risk environments. This initial phase of research and development led to the creation of the Bone Hawk M1. The tool was engineered following direct feedback from a contact in U.S. Special Forces who identified structural and functional weaknesses in existing tomahawks utilized in the field. The resulting Bone Hawk M1 was subsequently deployed during the Global War on Terror (GWOT). A primary innovation of this tomahawk design was its dual-grip system, which allowed the user to effectively utilize a standard lower grip for traditional use as well as a choked-up grip for precision and/or CQB work. These early design concepts quickly gained exposure and were featured in industry publications, including Blade Magazine and Recoil Magazine.

Early Industry Attention and Strategic Direction

Following the initial exposure of the Bone Hawk M1, Bone Tactical’s designs generated interest from major established tool and cutlery manufacturers. Tambone engaged in discussions with several of these corporations regarding the acquisition or licensing of his designs, but the parties were ultimately unable to agree on pricing or finalize negotiations. During this period, Tambone observed that many of his innovative design features were being adopted across the broader industry. This observation led to the strategic conclusion that traditional intellectual property protections were insufficient to secure rapidly evolving tool designs. Consequently, Bone Tactical shifted its operational strategy to a small-batch, continuously evolving production model, prioritizing rapid iteration and independent manufacturing over corporate licensing.

Operational Development

In its earliest iterations, Bone Tactical operated primarily as a private security, contracting, and consulting firm before systematically transitioning into a dedicated product manufacturing and sales enterprise. While the business maintained its legal and structural base in Florida, early operations followed Tambone on his diverse ventures. During this transitional phase, ongoing product development and manufacturing were often conducted under resource-constrained, high-pressure conditions. This operational environment necessitated a high degree of adaptability and mobility, establishing a corporate foundation built on the ability to engineer and scale infrastructure from scratch.

U.S. Base and Current Structure

Bone Tactical has been based in Florida since 2018 when the company formalized its current infrastructure by establishing a dedicated logistics and distribution hub. This U.S. base integrates comprehensive warehousing operations with an in-house content and media production studio. The company’s current operational model combines centralized U.S.-based distribution with dedicated in-house production facilities. This structural approach allows Bone Tactical to maintain a highly controlled manufacturing environment while directly sourcing raw materials for its specialized products.

Product Evolution

The Bone Tactical catalog has developed through a structured, multi-phase evolution of product lines:

Phase 1: The foundation of the company’s product line began with the Special Forces Bone Hawk M1. The Knife & Tool lineup was expanded to include a plethora of professional edged tools for the modern operator. This phase concluded with the introduction of the Bone Breaker, a breakout tool that successfully bridged the gap between specialized equipment and broader EDC utility.

Phase 2: Development expanded further into the travel sector, focusing on the engineering of TSA-friendly EDC tools designed for frequent travelers requiring practical, compliant equipment. The Bone Breaker lineup was expanded to include the Bone Opener, the Tambone Breaker, the Big Nasty, and many more highly effective unrestricted EDC force multipliers.

Phase 3: The company introduced its specified Non-Permissive Environment (NPE) gear: low-profile tools designed for discreet carry in what would otherwise be considered restricted environments. This phase yielded the NPE Ghost Knife and the development of the proprietary Bonedurantium material used in the Ghost Spike. The Force Multiplier lineup was expanded to include the Bonejack Challenge Coin Holder, the TSA Combat Screwdriver, and the Bone Occlusion Bracelet.

Phase 4: Bone Tactical expanded into textiles, launching a dedicated clothing and apparel line that integrated the brand’s mission-specific requirements into everyday garments designed to be used in conjunction with “The Real Gray Man Theory.”  The El Sicario Covert Concealed Carry Shirt was introduced in this phase along with the proprietary camouflage combat uniform.

Phase 5: Leveraging previous SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) experience, the company developed a comprehensive line of survival equipment. The Ultimate Survival Bugout System brought transformation to this space with a kit that uniquely blended high quality with components that were practical to real-world contemporary situations.

Phase 6:  The Bone Tactical optimization phase. A new production facility and unrelenting dedication to the pursuit of perfection across all products is driving continual advancements and consistent new product releases. Utilizing access to remote areas, the company began repurposing directly sourced exotic hardwoods into a line of custom wood products.

Design Philosophy

Bone Tactical’s design philosophy strictly prioritizes function first, then aesthetics. Every tool is engineered to be highly usable, durable, and practical. The iterative design process places a heavy emphasis on real-world application and carry practicality, ensuring that equipment is accessible and effective in its intended environment.

Humanitarian Efforts

As a core component of its organizational philosophy, Bone Tactical actively participates in humanitarian and philanthropic work. The company dedicates a portion of its resources, logistics, and infrastructure to supporting targeted relief, educational, and community assistance initiatives for underserved populations.

Closing Position

Today, Bone Tactical is positioned as an independent innovator and an evolving manufacturer within the specialized equipment and EDC sectors. The company remains focused on the continued development of highly functional tools, prioritizing disciplined growth, adaptability, and long-term impact over short-term industry trends.
